Embrace the Cold!
Wally Ice Fest celebrates everything we love about winter: snow, ice, and some good, old-fashioned pond hockey. This winter sports festival occurs in the Lake Wallenpaupack area every late January or early February, weather permitting.
You haven’t really played hockey until you’ve bundled up and played outside on a frozen pond. Round up a team and join the Pocono Pond Hockey Tournament, which is held at Watonka Outdoor Facilities in Hawley.
In addition to the hockey, Watonka also hosts family-friendly games and activities throughout the weekend. The Anthracite Curling Club holds demos, lessons, and games. There is also public skating, live entertainment, bonfires, and more.
The frozen fun continues on Lake Wallenpaupack, where the Chamber of the Northern Poconos holds the annual Ice Tee Golf Tournament. They create two 9-hole golf courses on the frozen lake, complete with fairways, greens, roughs, and other obstacles.
