Connecting Frackville to Philadelphia

The Schuylkill River Trail is a multi-use recreational trail that will extend 120 miles upon completion. The trail starts in Frackville and travels through Schuylkill, Montgomery, Chester, and Berks counties until it reaches its southern terminus in Philadelphia. The trail highlights the rich history and scenic landscapes of the Schuylkill River region, from its rural countryside to its vibrant suburban and urban areas. The trail mainly follows old railroad lines with paved and crushed stone paths. You’ll spot remnants of canals, railroads, and other reminders of Pennsylvania’s industrial heritage. Over 75 miles of the Schuylkill River Trail are already complete and open to the public. Some sections are still uncompleted or have on-road sections. Schuylkill County is home to several completed sections, including segments near Frackville, Mount Carbon, Landingville, Auburn, and Port Clinton. Check out the trail’s interactive map for trailheads, parking information, and more.
