Waterfalls and Wildflowers

Panther Creek Nature Preserve in Simpson is a privately owned preserve that is open to the public for hiking. Follow the trail along the creek, which rushes down Moosic Mountain and empties into the Lackawanna River. You’ll spot several waterfalls among the rocky ledges.

DCNR designated Panther Creek Nature Preserve as a Wild Plant Sanctuary for its diverse population of native trees and flowers. Visit in the summer to see the wildflowers and the dense rhododendrons in full bloom.

To reach the preserve, park at the D&H trailhead on Jefferson Street in Simpson or the O&W trailhead on Homestead Street in Simpson. Walk north for a little over a mile. A sign for the preserve will be on your right.
