Dorflinger Factory Museum | Gilded Age glass & factory history in White Mills
The Dorflinger Factory Museum in White Mills celebrates the artistry and innovation of the Dorflinger Glass Company, a nationally recognized name in fine crystal during the Gilded Age. Located in the Pocono Mountains, this museum invites visitors to explore the region’s industrial legacy and the precision craftsmanship that put Wayne County on the map. With roots in both Brooklyn, New York, and White Mills, the company’s lead crystal tableware once graced the tables of presidents and dignitaries.
Housed in the restored 1883 cutting shop and the 1888 factory office, the museum offers a rare look inside the last two remaining buildings of the original Dorflinger facility. Their bluestone construction stands as a testament to 19th-century industrial architecture, while the exhibits inside highlight the company’s artistic excellence. Visitors can view more than 2,600 finished pieces of Dorflinger glass, alongside tools, machinery and historic artifacts that tell the story of glassmaking in the Pocono Mountains.
Educational exhibits detail the cutting and polishing process, giving guests a greater appreciation for the skill behind each piece. Public tours are available daily, and private group tours can be arranged upon request.
The Dorflinger Factory Museum preserves a unique chapter of American craftsmanship in the Pocono Mountains.
