Mission Statement

To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

For over 150 years, the Wilkes-Barre Family YMCA has built up the community by promoting youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Y (as the locals call it) helps members unlock their potentials and grow stronger in spirit, mind and body.

The Y is well-known for their wellness programs. Their facility includes a fitness center, pool, gymnasiums and more. They offer group exercise classes, sports leagues and recreational activities for all ages. Prevention programs educate the community about healthy habits and support those who are suffering from chronic illnesses.

Everyone knows the Y for fitness, but it’s also home to a quality childcare center. The Y offers daycare for children ages six weeks through five years old. Their preschool and pre-kindergarten classes prepare kids to succeed in school. They also offer before and after school programs for kids in kindergarten through grade five. In the summer, the Y keeps the fun rolling at Camp Kresge, their 1,100-acre summer camp in White Haven.

Thanks to generous donors, no one is turned away for inability to pay. The Y offers financial assistance to anyone who cannot afford membership or program fees.
