Mission Statement

Volunteers in Medicine is a non-profit, community-based organization developed to help meet the primary health care needs of the working uninsured and the underinsured populations in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. The program is designed to provide free primary and preventative health services for those individuals who are employed but have no access to or cannot afford health insurance.

Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) is a community-based nonprofit organization established to provide free primary and preventative medical, dental and behavioral healthcare to working low income families of Luzerne County. The Wilkes-Barre clinic opened in 2008 and is one of 90 Volunteers in Medicine locations across the country. Their services help build a stronger, healthier community.

Volunteers in Medicine is not a federally-funded organization. The clinic operates solely off of donations from businesses and individuals, grants from foundations and proceeds from special events. There are many ways to support VIM. Every donation, regardless of amount, is crucial to their mission of keeping low-income families in Luzerne County healthy, well and working.
