Mission Statement

Volunteers in Medicine is a non-profit, community based organization developed to help meet the primary health care needs of the working uninsured and the underinsured populations in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. The program is designed to provide free primary and preventative health services for those individuals who are employed but have no access to or cannot afford health insurance.

Volunteers in Medicine in Wilkes-Barre is a clinic that offers free medical, dental and behavioral health services to low-income families in Luzerne County. They provide health care for residents who are employed but do not have access to adequate health insurance.

The team at Volunteers in Medicine consists of retired and practicing medical professionals. They provide primary health care and dental care to eligible patients. Volunteers in Medicine also offers specialty services like counseling, case management, physical therapy, chiropractic services, massage therapy, women’s health care, nutrition education, podiatry, chronic disease management, testing, behavioral health evaluations and more. Additional services are available outside of the clinic.
