The Ronald McDonald House of Scranton has provided a free of charge “home away from home” for families of seriously ill children for over thirty years. They offer a private stay complete with laundry, transportation and home-cooked meals to any family with a child receiving care in area hospitals. The house provides plenty of space to rest, relax and recapture the normalcy and strength of home.

In order to better serve the local community and families, the organization opened McDonald Family Rooms in four regional hospitals. These family rooms offer a haven inside the hospital walls just footsteps from the child’s bedside. Complete with a living room, fully stocked kitchenette and home-like furnishings, these rooms are spaces for parents and siblings to rest, grab a cup of coffee, eat lunch and escape the clinical environment.
