Mission Statement

The McGlynn Center serves young people who reside at Boulevard Townhomes and Mineral Springs Village. It’s committed to service and education.

The McGlynn Center is a safe and welcoming place for children and adolescents residing in Wilkes-Barre’s Boulevard Townhomes and Mineral Springs Village. The center is committed to service and education, and has been helping vulnerable children of Wilkes-Barre since 1988.

The Center provides after-school tutoring and recreational and cultural activities in a safe environment at no cost to children who live at either Boulevard Townhomes or Mineral Springs Village. The McGlynn Center is a 100% donation-funded project. They have a stellar record of service to Wilkes-Barre and to Luzerne County. During its 30 years of service, no child or youth attending the Learning Center has been involved with the Juvenile Justice System.

With a staff of three full-time employees, as well as a host of volunteers, the McGlynn Center serves about 150 children and youth each year. All children residing in these two low-income housing developments are eligible for service at the Center.
