Mission Statement
The mission of the Eastern Monroe Public Library is to serve a diverse population by promoting lifelong learning and enriching the overall quality of life in our communities.
The Eastern Monroe Public Library has been serving Monroe County for over 100 years. The main Hughes branch in Stroudsburg features meeting spaces, study rooms, a children’s library and a café. Their wide array of free programs includes classes and cultural events for kids, teens and adults.
The Eastern Monroe Public Library is a community resource with thousands of books, DVDs, audiobooks, CDs and other materials. They also offer digital resources and downloadable content. Their local history and genealogy room preserves historic books, newspapers and other records related to Monroe County.
The library also operates the Pocono Township Branch in Tannersville, the Smithfields Branch in East Stroudsburg and a Bookmobile that brings the library into the community.
