Victims Resource Center Holds Geranium Sale

Fundraiser Will Help Victims Become Survivors

Victims Resource Center is now accepting orders for their 36th Annual Geranium Day Sale. Due to COVID-19, they’re adapting this year’s fundraiser and turning it into a drive-thru event.

The flowers are locally grown at Varsity Garden Center and come in your choice of pink or red. The cost is $3.75 per plant. You can place your order online or download a form to mail in. Orders are due by April 23.

The geraniums will be available for pick-up at Victims Resource Center’s three offices— May 4 in Tunkhannock, May 5 in Wilkes-Barre and May 6 in Lehighton.

Victims Resource Center is a private, nonprofit agency that supports victims of crime in Luzerne, Wyoming and Carbon Counties. Proceeds from the sale will go towards services like their 24-hour hotline, support groups, crisis intervention, advocacy, educational programs and more.

Despite the challenges of the pandemic, Victims Resource Center has found creative ways to reach out to those in need. They offer crisis counseling over the phone and video chat, and some support groups are meeting via Zoom. They’ve also met clients in private, outdoor settings to maintain a safe social distance.

The geranium sale is just in time for Mother’s Day and the gardening season. But at Victims Resource Center, the flowers are more than a sign of spring—they also represent hope. The hardy geranium symbolizes the journey from victim to survivor.

Help do your part and spread hope throughout NEPA. Place your order and check out Victims Resource Center to learn how you can support their mission.
