Conservation

NEPA’s story begins with the mountains, the rivers and the trees.

Northeastern Pennsylvania celebrates a long, storied legacy of land, water and wildlife conservation. By all accounts, despite its flourishing cities, busy downtowns and quiet suburbs, most of NEPA is still a wild and natural place. And we should all celebrate our shared, monumental responsibility to protect it.

A Story Worth Telling

The wonderful story of NEPA would be a short one if we didn’t have all of this amazing nature to explore. Every chance we get, we’re highlighting trails, conservation projects and all of the hard work behind keeping NEPA’s natural spaces safe, clean and green.

Partners in Conservation

We love the natural splendor of NEPA just as much as the next guy. But we’re no experts when it comes to land conservation, stormwater management, forest health or so many other conservation topics. Since launching DiscoverNEPA in 2018, we’ve partnered with incredible organizations routinely making conservation a major part of their missions.

Be a Part of it All

If you’re seeking a change of scenery or just a breath of fresh air, you’ll find an abundance of both on one of NEPA’s many beautiful hiking trails, and if pitching in is more your style, you’ll find volunteer opportunities in the area of conservation with more than 25 organizations that work tirelessly to ensure the maintenance of NEPA’s natural resources for future generations.

Conservation and preservation of our rich natural resources through respectful stewardship, thoughtful stormwater management and the use of alternative energy sources ensures a clean future for NEPA’s air quality, our rivers and streams, and our thriving agricultural industry. More importantly, it provides a nurturing environment in which our diverse and beautiful wildlife and vegetation can continue to flourish.
