Local History Captures the Halloween Spirit

On Saturday, the Hollenback Cemetery in Wilkes-Barre held a tour through the historic grounds. Wilkes-Barre Preservation Society director and Hollenback Cemetery Association board member Tony Brooks led visitors past the final resting places of some of Wilkes-Barre’s most famous and fascinating citizens.

Hollenback is one of Wilkes-Barre’s oldest cemeteries. The tour shared tales from the past and made stops at the elaborate mausoleums, statues and grave markers. Proceeds benefited the cemetery’s grave restoration fund.

The Halloween season is the perfect time to explore the picturesque grounds and brush up on local history.
