NEPA’s Craft Breweries Capture Fall Vibes in a Glass

Autumn Welcomes a Wave of Robust, Hearty Offerings from NEPA’s Craft Breweries

Make way for sweater weather, cozy campfires and cold fall beers.

Regardless of how you square it, autumn in Northeastern Pennsylvania is simply perfection. The weather is just right. Around every corner, vibrant foliage comforts the soul. Everyone’s all hyped on football and making pots of chili. And we’re ready to fill the fridge with brewery-fresh fall beers.

Right about now, all along the DiscoverNEPA Brewer’s Loop, you’ll find an abundance of seasonal brews. Gone are the days of crispy, poolside summertime cruisers. These cooler temps call for beers with a little more body and spice. By the time fall rolls around, we’re craving darker, malty ambers and red ales. We welcome the warm, liquid hug of velvety, toasty porters and chocolatey stouts. And, when we satisfy these natural, seasonal urges, for a moment, all is right with the world.

We made the rounds on NEPA’s bustling craft beer scene and talked to many of NEPA’s trailblazing craft brewers. They waxed poetic about ABVs, IBUs and their exciting, new brews. We even nodded approvingly and pretended to understand as we sampled beer after beer. Then, we made a list – just for you.

Fall is calling, my friends. Get out there! Lace up those hiking boots. Put on way more flannel than necessary. Wear some kind of strange, unseasonable hat or scarf (seriously, it looks cool). Find yourself a spot near the fire pit. And make sure you get that fall beer fix at NEPA’s local craft breweries.

Add These to Your List of New, Seasonal Brews:

  • Barley Creek Brewing Company

    Angler Black Lager

    Schwarzbier / ABV: 5.9%

“Angler Black is our take on a dark German lager that balances roasted yet smooth malt flavors with moderate hop bitterness. It pairs well with chilly nights by a campfire, Sunday football and evenings surrounded by great friends and family.”

  • Benny Brewing Company

    BennyFest

Oktoberfest Style Marzen / ABV: 5%

“Plenty of German malts give this beer its bright copper color, while the addition of Vanguard hops round out the spicy bitterness of this Marzen.”
