Posted: May 25, 2018
Kick off summer with an eventful Memorial Day weekend!
Marking the official kick-off of summer, Memorial Day weekend in NEPA doesn’t disappoint. From a block party to festivals and farmers markets, there are events for the whole family during this holiday weekend.
Tonight, head to the Electric City for the Albright Memorial Library’s 125th anniversary block party that will feature delicious food from Scranton area restaurants, beer, wine, margaritas and live music. Tomorrow, don your swimsuits because the waterpark at Montage Mountain will officially be open for business, and the weather looks promising!
If you’re in a festive mood, head to Jessup or Shawnee Mountain Ski Area. In Jessup you will find an Italian community tradition unlike any other that includes a two-mile race, parties and tasty food. For a slightly different cultural experience, check out the Shawnee Celtic Festival to feel like you have been transported to the Irish and Scottish countryside.
Finally, nothing says summer like strolling through rows of fresh fruits, vegetables, and other offerings at a local farmers market. Stop by Milford or Stroudsburg to taste some regional goods and take advantage of the warm temperatures at their open-air markets.
