Welcome August with County Fairs, Music Festivals and More Family-Friendly Fun

Kick off August the only way NEPA knows how, with great times and good company. Start the party at Hazleton’s Arts in the Park First Friday, a family-friendly event in Can DO Community Park. And keep the vibes up at the first ever Good Things Are Happening Festival with a lineup of incredible acts at Scranton Iron Furnaces.

Stretch it out at Riverfront Yoga, a peaceful guided yoga session at Wilkes-Barre’s River Common. After calming your mind, you’re ready to run for a good cause at the 14th Annual Pauly Friedman 5K.

The Electric City has a bit of something for everyone this weekend. Scranton Bike Weekend takes over the Viewmont Mall for three days of motorcycles, entertainment and family fun. Meanwhile, Lackawanna Historical Society takes history lovers on an Architectural Walking Tour of Scranton’s incredible sites.

With bazaar and county fair season upon us, there is no shortage of community events across the area. Bring the whole family to Falls Summer Celebration for an afternoon of activities and entertainment. Even your furry friends can get in on the summer fun at Paws in the Park.

This weekend, don’t miss the 96th Annual Pocono Mountain Carnival, the St. Robert Bellarmine Parish Bazaar and the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish Family Picnic.

    Make your way to any number of NEPA county fairs this month for tasty fair food, midway rides, carnival games, live animal exhibits, live entertainment and so much more. This weekend, head to the Schuylkill County and Wayne County Fairs for all of the above.

  • Scranton Bike Weekend

    Friday, August 5 at 2 p.m. / Saturday, August 6 & Sunday, August 7 at 12 p.m.

    Stop by the Viewmont Mall in Scranton for a full weekend of motorcycles, live entertainment, car shows, plenty of food, family activities and so much more. The first ever event will benefit Keystone Mission.

  • Arts in the Park First Friday

    Friday, August 5 at 4:30 p.m.

    Make your way to Can DO Community Park in Downtown Hazleton for this First Friday community celebration of the arts. The family-friendly event features music from a live DJ, Zumba classes, a bounce house, food from Downtown Hazleton restaurants, games and much more.

  • 14th Annual Pauly Friedman 5K Walk/Run

    Sunday, August 7 at 9 a.m.

    Put on your runnin’ shoes and head to the Friedman Jewish Community Center in Kingston for this popular run/walk benefitting the Family Service Association and 211 Helpline. A post-race reception will include refreshments and awards.

    Sunday, August 7 at 12 p.m.

    Enjoy an afternoon making new furry friends and supporting a local nonprofit. Griffin Pond Animal Shelter holds its 5th Annual Paws in the Park, a fundraising event complete with vendors, games, food trucks and live entertainment.
