Posted: February 23, 2022
Close Out the Week with a Weekend Full of Winter Blues, Train Rides and Much More
This weekend’s events are sure to keep the whole family entertained. Begin and end your weekend at the F.M. Kirby Center. The iconic Gershwin musical, An American in Paris, transports audiences to colorful Parisian streets. And Travis Tritt closes out the weekend with a chill acoustic performance of his biggest hits.
No need to wait for warm weather to catch some music festivals. Winter Blues Guitarmaggedon brings some of the biggest names in blues to the Scranton Cultural Center. The Fire House Concert Series at Nescopeck Township Fire Hall is in full swing with performances from Roy Williams and Shawn Caden. And The Ritz Theater celebrates Black History Month and the power of community with A Celebration of Diversity: A Night of Gospel.
Run, walk or crawl for some tasty treats throughout NEPA. The 39th Annual Run for the Cookies has delicious prizes at the finish line. If you prefer a liquid dessert, the Pittston City St. Patrick’s Day Parade Pub Crawl tours Pittston’s nightlife scene with the help of the Wyoming Valley Pipe and Drum Band.
Winter scenery will stick around for a few more weeks, so take the opportunity to catch some beautiful sites. The Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway’s vintage train rides take guests on a ride through the landmarks of the Lehigh River. The Pocono Environmental Education Center leads an Eagle Watch tour along the Delaware River. And, as always, for some indoor winter fun, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins hit the Mohegan Sun ice. This weekend’s match against Syracuse Crunch is sure to be a good one.
