Jacobi Capital Management, LLC – Pittston, PA
A different perspective.
Jacobi Capital Management, LLC and its predecessor began over thirty years ago by Founder and Chief Investment Officer, Michael Hirthler. In 1992, Mike became an independent advisor and opened a Wilkes-Barre branch office of LPL Financial. Over the years, he quietly and successfully built his investment practice and in 2008 formed Jacobi Capital Management. Jacobi is a fully independent firm focused on providing objective, fee-based investment advice. Over the past decade, they have opened additional branch office locations, and more than tripled their advisory team and assets under management. In recognition of this growth, Michael Hirthler has been named the Barron’s Top 1,200 Financial Advisor* seven times in the past 10 years and has been the only advisor from NEPA to earn the honor. Most recently, they moved to a larger office space in Pittston to accommodate their growing team and client base.
* The ranking is based on assets under management, revenue produced for the firm, regulatory record, quality of practice and philanthropic work.
As a firm, Jacobi provides investment management and financial planning to individuals, families, and businesses throughout the country to help them reach their goals and optimize the probability of success. Their clients entrust them with their financial future and they continually work to earn their confidence by staying committed to their success. Jacobi holds itself to the highest standards, striving to serve its clients in ways that are relevant to their distinctive and unique needs.
“Jacobi Capital is a client-focused firm in a product-focused industry. Registered as an Investment Advisor with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), we hold ourselves to the highest fiduciary standard, placing clients’ best interests first. We believe every client deserves an advisor who delivers exceptional client service and communication, treats them like family, and takes the relationship to a personal level,” says Mrs. Nina S. Nichols, Director of Client Services.
“Our Wealth Advisors act as fiduciaries for our clients, striving to meet their specified objectives while using strategies that seek to protect their wealth. We provide research-driven financial advice, rather than product-driven financial sales. We follow the Golden Rule when it comes to investing our clients’ assets – we use the same proprietary principles and strategies in our clients’ accounts as we do in our own and those of our families.”
A Client-Focused Firm in a Product-Focused Industry
Local focus. Local values. Local talent.
Every member of the Jacobi team was born and raised in this area. While most of them left for some time for school or other jobs, they all ended up returning to the area and settling down with their families. As they add additional wealth advisors and staff members, they always look to the community for team members who share their same values and team culture to help their business continue to succeed.
“Although we service clients throughout the country, NEPA has been our home from the beginning and we will continue to thrive in our community,” says Nina.
Community is a huge priority for each Jacobi team member. In addition to overseeing endowments and investment accounts of several local non-profits, nearly every member of the Jacobi team serves on at least one non-profit board and all of them donate time and resources to dozens of local agencies.
“Just as our team culture is aligned to do what’s best for our clients, our company approaches involvement in the community with the same attitude. We are on a journey to create a community of giving. Our team sponsors several annual galas, walks, and golf tournaments, spends time in classrooms with Junior Achievement, collects toys for children in need, and has even built a garden for the small animals at the SPCA. We aren’t afraid to be hands-on to help those around us succeed in any way we can,” says Nina.
Community involvement is what truly takes their company culture to the next level. “Shortly before the pandemic, our team was asked to speak at the 2019 Barron’s Regional Summit in Philadelphia on the topic of working as a team. Five members of our core team, including myself, addressed the group of experienced financial advisors on topics of delegation, organizational structures, and collaboration. Our experience in establishing a strong team culture that works together to put our mission and our clients first made giving this presentation almost second nature,” says Nina.
