A West Pittston Favorite Since 1975
Antonio’s Pizza in West Pittston has been a family-run NEPA hot spot since 1975. For over 40 years, locals have been lining up at the Luzerne Ave. shop for classic cheese pizzas, famous gourmet pies and just about everything in between. We stopped in for a quick bite and, before we knew it, we felt like part of the family.
Antonio’s owner, Francesca Carannante is, in her own words, “West Pittston Proud.” She views the tight-knit community as an extension of her family. And when you’re here, enjoying a slice or a sub or wings, it’s impossible not to feel it. For Carannante, family is not only at the core of every dish, it’s also in the close relationships she has with regular customers. Come back to Antonio’s a few times and she’s calling you by your first name. On top of that, she’s likely going to know your order as well.
We started with one of their most popular menu items – the Chicken Wing Pizza. There’s no secret as to why this pizza is a crowd-favorite. It’s smothered with mild wing sauce, melted mozzarella cheese, tender, shredded chicken, and drizzled with creamy blue cheese. It truly was the best of both worlds in every bite. From there, we took a local’s tip and tried the wing bites. These crispy, saucy little nuggets from heaven are offered with a choice of ten delicious sauce options. When it comes to wings, however, we’re traditionalists. We went with mild. And the velvety, spicy kick was spot on – just enough and not too much. Lastly, we tried the Chicken Cheese Steak Special. This beautifully overstuffed sub offered a mini-smorgasbord of chicken, onion, peppers, mushrooms and sauce on a pillowy, fresh-baked roll.
After that, we had to throw in the towel. But you should know that Antonio’s is not just all about pizza, wings and subs. Their extensive menu also features homemade pasta, Stromboli, calzones, fresh salads, platters and more. Of course, there is the occasional true Antonio’s specialty like the Appetizer Pizza. This behemoth arrives adorned with French fries, mozzarella sticks, fried pickles, mac bites, mozzarella and cheddar cheese, bacon and Ranch dressing. That sounds like lunch for a week.
Overall, our mission on these visits is to leave full, satisfied and eager to come back. The team at Antonio’s helped us accomplish all three with ease.
