Peaceful forests and a pristine lake nestle between the mountains at Lackawanna State Park.

Just 10 miles outside the bustling city of Scranton, the park is open year-round.

Lackawanna Lake lies at the heart of the park, and picnic areas dot the lakeshore. Boaters can set sail from the park’s three launches, or rent a canoe or kayak. Fishing is allowed in the lake. Aspiring anglers 12 and under can fish in Trostle Pond.

Lackawanna State Park also holds educational programs throughout the year. At children’s camps, kids learn about plants, animals, and ecology.

The newly-renovated pool invites visitors to unwind, cool off, and enjoy a snack at the concession stand. Kids will love the new Splash Pad, a play area that sprays and shoots water. Note: The pool and splash pad complex at the Lackawanna State Park will be closed for the 2023 swimming season.

The park’s hiking trails loop around the lake and intersect, providing miles of paths for hikers and mountain bikers. Horseback riders can take a trot down the Abington Trail. Tent and trailer campsites with modern amenities and cottage and yurt rentals are available.
