Art of Floating has five tanks, each with their own private room. The rooms are fully stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, towels, washcloths, and earplugs. You can also bring your own supplies if you prefer.

 

Floating 101: What to Expect During Your Float

 

 

Before you start, you’ll take a quick shower. Then it’s time to get in the tank. No worries about sinking—floating is effortless thanks to the high concentration of Epsom salt. Your body will bob to the water’s surface as soon as you get in.

Once you close the door, the tank limits external sounds and light. The dark, quiet environment allows your brain to take a break from the sensory overload you face in day-to-day life. If you’re afraid of the dark, you can leave the door cracked. However, complete darkness will help you fully relax and get the most out of your experience.

The water is about 93.5 degrees, the same temperature as your skin. This creates a feeling of weightlessness, as if you’re floating through outer space. After a few minutes, your body will loosen up and your thoughts will drift off.

A soft light will turn on in the tank when your session is over. Take a shower to wash off the salt and make your way to the post-float room. This area is full of comfy furniture, books, and puzzles. Cozy up with a mug of hot cinnamon tea and make yourself at home.
