Council Event Spotlight: Ugly Sweater Holiday Party!

Join us for our 3rd Annual Chamber Ugly Sweater Holiday Party hosted by the Regional Young Professionals Council and sponsored by Berkshire Hathaway GUARD Insurance Companies, in collaboration with our regional chamber partners on Thursday, December 7th at 5:30 PM in the THINK Center. There will be food, fun, and, of course, an Ugly Sweater Contest!

As the need grows in our community, The Young Professional Councils hopes to fundraise for Valley Santa’s mission while providing an opportunity for attendees to network and learn more about the organization. We’ll have basket raffles and surprises peppered throughout the evening!

Valley Santa’s mission is to provide a toy at Christmas for children in Luzerne County who would not otherwise have the opportunity to receive gifts from Santa. The program was developed in 1984 through a community-wide effort and was based loosely on the program established in Boston through the Boston Globe called the Globe Santa. Various members of the community determined there was a need to provide toys to children at Christmas and the volunteers asked for community businesses to cooperate with the establishment of the program. In 1984 there were approximately 300 children received presents from Valley Santa. We are now serving 4000 children throughout Luzerne County.

Register for this event on our event page.

Community Opportunities: YP Giving Mixer

Join us for an evening of philanthropy and community impact at the 2023 YP Giving Mixer on November 30th! Through the collaborative efforts of the Greater Wyoming Valley Chamber of Commerce, The Luzerne Foundation, and AllOne Charities, in partnership with the Chamber’s Regional Young Professionals Network, this event is the heart of our YP Giving program.

By attending, you will have the chance to:

  1. Be a part of the decision-making process! Your donation grants you the privilege to cast your vote for the nonprofit organization that will receive the YP Giving grant in 2023. This grant will support a community project aligned with the focus area of the program for this year.
  2. Network with fellow young professionals, community leaders, and like-minded individuals who share your passion for making a difference.
  3. Hear inspiring stories and updates on the positive changes brought about by local non-profits in the Greater Wyoming Valley.

Visit the event page to learn more about the program, how to donate, and register to attend!

What is YP Giving?

YP Giving is a philanthropy program established in 2022 that is run through the Greater Wyoming Valley Chamber of Commerce, The Luzerne Foundation, and AllOne Charities, in partnership with the Chamber’s Regional Young Professionals Network.

This program introduces young professionals in the Greater Wyoming Valley to the opportunity to leave a lasting impact on their community through a local giving platform and also helps to cultivate our next generation of philanthropists.

Donations can be made in a variety of tiers that allow young professionals to contribute at their financial comfort level, to create an inclusive and accessible philanthropic experience.

All donors who participate in this program will have the ability to vote on one of the YP Giving nonprofit finalists, to pick the year’s winner. That organization will receive a grant from the fund to help them accomplish a community project that aligns with the focus area of the grant program for that year.
