Gala Concert Benefits the Iconic Little Theatre of Wilkes-Barre
Mix up the old routine this Valentine’s weekend with an energetic evening of classic and contemporary Broadway hits.
All weekend long, the Little Theatre of Wilkes-Barre will host A Broadway Valentine. The popular ensemble choir concert makes its triumphant return after a four-year hiatus. The brilliant, all-volunteer show pays homage to beloved Broadway musicals. And, in a greater sense, it serves as a love letter to the Little Theatre and its enthusiastic, supportive community.
Don’t miss evening performances on Friday, February 14 and Saturday, February 15 at 7 p.m. Or, stop by on Sunday, February 16 for the 2 p.m. matinee. Tickets will be sold at the door only. Doors open 1 hour prior to each show’s scheduled start.
A delightful parade of iconic Broadway tunes.
For nearly 100 years, the Little Theatre of Wilkes-Barre has stood as a beacon of artistic expression, inclusivity and community. A Broadway Valentine celebrates this tradition by staging a diverse choir made up entirely of talented, local volunteers. Carefully selected solo and ensemble arrangements make up the long list of popular Broadway tunes. Expect to hear numbers from Rent, Into the Woods, Wicked, Falsettos, Dear Evan Hansen and many more. The roughly 2-hour, family-friendly set delivers a wide spectrum of emotions. From the romantic and the dramatic to the hilarious and the provocative, you’ll hear it all.
There’s no theater like local theater.
The Little Theatre of Wilkes-Barre has been delivering high-quality, local performances since 1923. It is currently recognized as the third oldest community theater in the United States. Throughout that time, Little Theatre productions have reached well over 2 million people. For many, this brick gem on the hill represents so much more than just a place to catch an occasional show. Some view it as a foundational cornerstone in NEPA’s cultural development. And, for others, maybe it’s just always been somewhere they finally fit in – outside of the traditional social molds. Dreams, be they big or small, have come true here with regularity. And, only with continued, enthusiastic support, will the magic continue.
Lose yourself, for an evening, in the magic of Broadway.
Stop by the Little Theatre of Wilkes-Barre this weekend for a special Valentine’s treat. Bring a date. Bring your friends and family. Fly solo. It doesn’t matter. Drop ten bucks in the kitty, catch an amazing, homegrown performance and know that you’ve helped, in some small way, to keep this historical, cultural community gem alive for another 98 years.
