Make the Most of Spring (or Start Summer a Little Early) this May with Festivals, Baseball and More
We don’t let summer sneak up on us here in NEPA. Sure, the calendar still says spring, but as soon as warmer days begin to overtake cooler ones, we’re moving everything outside. Well, almost everything. From festivals and fairs to baseball games and concerts, May is made for getting a jumpstart on that seasonal bucket list.
And if that’s not enough reason to celebrate, May 7th is 570Day! Show your NEPA pride by dining at your favorite restaurants, supporting local businesses and paying a visit to the area’s beloved parks. Be sure to use #570Day to share the good vibes.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders
May 2 – 7, 9 – 14 & 23 – 28
It’s not spring in NEPA without baseball. The RailRiders season is in full swing with games against the Rochester Red Wings, Omaha Storm Chasers and Worcester Red Sox this month. Get out to PNC Field to cheer on the home team. Or just to load up on ballpark snacks, we don’t judge.

First Friday Scranton
May 5
Downtown Scranton is the place to be for springtime Friday fun. Kick off May this First Friday with good times and great company across the Electric City. Browse pop-up galleries, enjoy musical performances and maybe even dine outside at your favorite spot.

Studio Two: The Early Beatles Tribute
May 5
Get ready to twist and shout at the Scranton Cultural Center as Studio Two covers the early days of The Beatles. No matter your age, you’ll feel like a 1960s teen once this Fab Four tribute hits the stage. Tickets are general admission.

Wyoming County Arts & Artists Tour

Explore the best that Wyoming County has to offer on the self-guided Arts & Artists Tour. In its first year, this event leads participants to discover works from local artists displayed at historic sites, cultural landmarks and popular destinations throughout the county.

Monster Jam

You’re in for an adrenaline-charged evening at Monster Jam. Come to the Mohegan Sun Arena early for the Monster Jam Pit Party. See the trucks close up, meet drivers and partake in some fun-filled activities. Once showtime rolls around, you’ll be pumped up for some high-energy stunts.

3rd Annual Paranormal Craft & Artisan Fair

Nothing says spring quite like an afternoon at the cemetery. Wyoming Valley Ghost Tours returns to Forty Fort for the 3rd Annual Paranormal Craft & Artisan Fair. Browse more than 50 unique vendors, catch a few performances and take a tour of the historic cemetery.

The Office 5K
May 6
Office fans unite at this favorite Electric City 5K. Along the race route, you’ll pass iconic sites from the hit TV show. And if running isn’t quite your speed, take the 1.5-mile walking course and enjoy Office-themed activities along the way. Dressing as your favorite character is highly encouraged.

Moms & Mimosas Goat Yoga

Treat Mom to a totally unique Mother’s Day celebration at Nimble Hill Goat Yoga. This beginner level class makes it possible for all skill levels to participate. So, worry about brunch later, let Mom practice vinyasa with some furry friends.

Whitewater Dam Release

You’ll experience some of the best whitewater rafting in the area when the Lehigh River dam releases its rapids. Join Pocono Whitewater for a day of wild water adventure.

Spring Winefest

Round up some friends and shake off your winter blues with the help of some world-class wine at Montage Mountain’s Spring Winefest. Presented by Harvest Seasonal Grill, this day on the mountain is complete with local vendors and live music.

Sunsets on South Main
May 18
It’s a party every third Thursday this summer in Wilkes-Barre’s Midtown Village. Susquehanna Brewing Company and Boozy B’s keep the drinks and treats flowing while local bands and musicians provide the tunes at this family-friendly event.

Breaking Benjamin
May 18
Wilkes-Barre’s own hard rock legends make a stop at the Mohegan Sun Arena for a hometown performance. Joined by alt-rock favorites Bush and Another Day Dawns, Breaking Benjamin will make this a night you won’t forget.

Cinderella

Spend an enchanting evening at the F.M. Kirby Center as the fairytale classic comes to life on stage. As a part of the World Ballet Series, this production of Cinderella features a cast of world-class dancers, dazzling choreography and a stunning score.

Old-fashioned rock & roll cruises into Poconos Park at the Lost Highway Motorcycle Show & Concert. Check out a sick collection of choppers before jamming to headliners Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Marshall Tucker Band.

Electric City Shock
May 19 & 24
Did you know Scranton has its very own semi-pro soccer team in the National Premier League? And you can support them right here in NEPA. This month, Electric City Shock brings the heat to the University of Scranton’s Fitzpatrick Field with matches against West Chester United and Hershey.

Kielbasi Festival & Heritage Day
May 20
Downtown Shenandoah combines their two biggest events and brings the party to the streets. Kick things off with the annual Parade of Nations before browsing three city blocks of food trucks, art vendors and live entertainment. And, of course, fill up on all the kielbasi you can eat.

The Great Pocono Raceway Airshow
May 27 & 28
Believe it or not, the Pocono Raceway isn’t just for cars. Take to the stands for an airshow like you’ve never seen. Headlined by the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and the F-22 Raptor Demonstration Team, you’re in for an afternoon of daring stunts and high-flying adventure.
