Make the Most of Winter with Chilly Festivals, Live Shows, Local Brews & More
Let’s face it, February is a divisive time. Some are in all their snow shredding glory while others are anxiously awaiting the first signs of spring. Still, the shortest month offers plenty of fun in NEPA for the winter lovers and anti-cold crowd alike.
Catch live music and stage productions in warm theaters or embrace the chill at outdoor winter festivals. However you spend your free time this February, make sure to live all 28 days to their fullest. Head to our events calendar for a bit of inspiration or check out these hand-picked highlights.

February 1-28
Head to Marywood University throughout February for an illuminating collaborative art experience. This mixed media series explores the sun and moon and its relation the human experience.
Solunar runs through March 10.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins
February 1, 11, 15, 19 & 25
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins hit the ice at Mohegan Sun Arena for just two matches this month. Be sure to get out and show your support as the Pens take on the Springfield Thunderbirds, Providence Bruins, Hershey Bears, Bridgeport Islanders, Lehigh Valley Phantoms and the Belleville Senators.

Art of various mediums fills Downtown Scranton every First Friday. Stroll the Electric City streets to catch galleries and live shows in some of the area’s most popular restaurants, businesses and cafés

Dracula

The Little Theatre of Wilkes-Barre is opening their 101st season with a bang. This dramatic adaptation brings the classic horror novel to life on stage with elaborate sets, stunning costumes and, of course, plenty of thrills.

World-renowned musicians pay tribute to the Piano Man himself at The Stranger. Hear the iconic songs of Billy Joel performed by a dedicated 6-piece band at Mauch Chunk Opera House. You’ll forget you’re watching a tribute show and not the real deal.

Carve 4 Cancer Winter Festival
February 4
For the 11th year, the Live Like Brent Foundation brings the Carve 4 Cancer Winter Festival to Montage Mountain. Shred the slopes, join the banked slalom and rail jail competitions, enjoy live music and check out local vendors all for a good cause.

WinterFest at Nescopeck State Park
February 4
The whole family will have “snow” much fun at Nescopeck State Park’s WinterFest. Try out a variety of cold weather activities, get some fresh air and find out what makes a NEPA winter truly special.

Winter Beer Festival

Nothing says winter like downing pints with friends before taking a few laps around an icy lake. Join local breweries on the Skytop grounds for live entertainment, delicious food, winter activities and great brews.

Full Moon Walk at Kettle Creek
February 4
Bring the family out for a winter walk under the light of the full moon at Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center in Stroudsburg. Finish your walk with a cup of complimentary hot chocolate. Participants must pre-register. Cost – $5 per person.

The Weeklings
February 10
Get groovy at Mauch Chunk Opera House with The Weeklings. Featuring musicians from some of the biggest bands in the world, the band combines tributes to The Beatles and 60s pop groups with some original compositions.

Mo Pitney

Keystone Mission shows appreciation for Northeastern Pennsylvania’s kindness and generosity by sponsoring a special performance from country star Mo Pitney at the F.M. Kirby Center.

An Evening of Irish Music & Dance with Darrah Carr

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day a month early at the F.M. Kirby Center with Darrah Carr Dance. The world-renowned company combines traditional Irish step with contemporary dance creating a completely unique performance.

Pittston St. Patrick's Parade Pub Crawl
February 24
Follow the Wyoming Valley Pipe and Drum Band around some of downtown Pittston’s hot spots. From The Red Mill to The Knights and ending at The Tomato Bar, the band will play two sets at each location while audiences enjoy food and drink.

The Scranton 4 Ukraine Association is holding their first ever Run 4 Ukraine. This 2-mile run/walk on the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail benefits Ukrainian refugees. Make it a challenge or take it easy, either way you’re supporting a good cause.
