A Modern Ramen Joint
Scranton’s newest restaurant is dishing out delicious, new takes on old classics. Peculiar Slurp is an Asian noodle shop on Penn Ave. featuring an innovative menu of sandwiches, small plates and bowls.
The inviting, exposed brick interior lends a sense of warm comfort to the overall communal ambiance. And the small-plate menu encourages guests to explore and share. This unique slurp shop is as much a cultural experience as it is a restaurant.
And what is great food without great beer and cocktails?
Peculiar Slurp also offers an impressive selection of craft beers, premium and fruit-infused Saki, wine and signature cocktails. Be sure to stop by Monday through Thursday for daily happy hour from 5 – 6:30 PM.
Ready your palate with a few small plates like the popular Grilled Spanish Octopus, or the tasty Seaweed Salad. And for the seafood fanatics, you can’t go wrong with the Korean Fried Oysters.
When it comes to the famous noodle bowls try the Coconut Lemongrass & Chicken served with rice noodles or kick it up a notch with the Jjampong, a spicy Korean seafood noodle soup.
And if you’re grabbing lunch on the run, you have to pick up a few sweet and salty Bao Buns. The Duck Meatball Bao with Chinese orange glaze, pickled banana peppers and fermented black beans is an absolute must-try.
Round out your experience with Electric City Roasting Co. coffee or try an original Japanese soft drink like the UCC Melon Cream Soda.
Every Tuesday, Peculiar Slurp offers $10 Featured Bowls. The selection changes each week so there’s always something new to try.
Visit on Wednesday for Wheats & Wings, a fresh twist on traditional wing night. They offer $5 tofu bites, $6 smoked wings, and $7 duck wings coated in your choice of house-made sauce.
