Gatsby Would Be Jealous of This Stylish Speakeasy
The spirit of the Roaring Twenties is still going strong at Madame Jenny’s in Scranton. This Prohibition-themed bar and nightclub is known for their handcrafted cocktails, gourmet snacks, and live entertainment.
You have to be in the know to get to Madame Jenny’s. Enter through Ale Mary’s and find the secret entryway. We’ll give you a hint: your secret’s “safe” with us. You can also enter through the back door. Just look for the red light.
Once you’re inside, you’ll find a luxurious lounge filled with art deco furniture and chandeliers from the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. Spend the night sipping Jenny’s signature drinks and watching live entertainment. They often host musicians, dancers, comedians, and other performers.
The bar’s namesake is Jenny Duffy, Scranton’s notorious madame from the Prohibition days. The throwback setting and locally inspired drinks give a nod to NEPA’s history.
Start the night off with a cocktail like Polly Adler’s Present-Day Paloma, a fresh and fruity blend of lime and grapefruit. The Bobbi Rhodes Gin & Tonic adds a swirl of blue Curacao and green Chartreuse to an old classic. The martini menu includes a refreshing cucumber watermelon martini served with a splash of lemonade.
Madame Jenny’s also serves beer and wine.
Pair your drink with a small plate. Share a flatbread with friends or indulge in an order of creamy mac ‘n’ cheese croquettes. The Spanish tapas plate is filled with gourmet goodies like peppers, olives, cheeses, and meats.
