The Birthplace of a Pioneer
Before Daniel Boone explored Kentucky, his story started right here in Pennsylvania. The Daniel Boone Homestead in Birdsboro marks where Boone was born in 1734. Located right outside of Reading, this historic site is just two hours from Wilkes-Barre.
Explore the grounds of Boone’s childhood home, which includes 8 historical structures and 600 acres of land. The restored Boone house will immerse you in the daily life of 18th century settlers, back when the region was the edge of the frontier. A historic smokehouse, blacksmith shop, barn, and sawmill are also on site.
Check the calendar of events for living history demonstrations, craft workshops, and battle reenactments.
The history is just the beginning. The Daniel Boone Homestead also offers hiking and horseback riding trails, picnic areas, and a lake. For the full pioneer experience, rent their lodge or tent campsites.
