Bear Creek Preserve
Bear Creek, PA
Sports & Outdoors: Local, State & National Parks
When you need a break from the bustle of the city, escape into nature at the Bear Creek Preserve, located just 15 miles from Wilkes-Barre. This conservation area spans 3,565 acres and boasts over 9 miles of trails, from easy, mile-long strolls to more challenging treks.
Along the way, you’ll pass pristine waterfalls and scenic overlooks along the Lehigh River. You might even be lucky enough to spot the bald eagles and ospreys that often nest in the area. And be sure to visit in the summer when the forests are painted pink with the mountain laurel blooms.
Check out the events page for guided nature walks and birding events.
Dogs are welcome, and leashes are required. The Bear Creek Preserve is open from sunrise to sunset year-round.
