Mission Statement

Our mission is to stop suicides in the Warrior Community.

Valhalla Veterans Services (VVS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization approved by the IRS and incorporated on November 19, 2016. Their mission is to stop suicides in the Warrior Community. They do that by:
1. Conducting crisis intervention.
2. Providing individual, group, family and marriage counseling at no cost to warriors and their dependents.
3. Training individuals to intervene when suicidal behaviors are evident.
4. Educating people about the Warrior Culture and how that culture effects the rate of veteran suicide.
5. Providing opportunities for veterans and their families to engage in networking, growth and recreational activities which develop connection, purpose and hope.

Who VVS Serves

The team at VVS are veterans, and they serve heroes. Hero is defined as veterans, active-service members, Reserve and National Guard, law enforcement, professional firefighters and EMTs. VVS serves the people who are brave enough to run toward danger when others run away.

How VVS Serves

Since July of 2018, VVS has provided 743 hours of individual, group and crisis counseling to heroes and their families at no cost to the hero. They have been growing their ability to provide services to the community. In 2016, they began the Valhalla Gatekeeper Program, which delivers the Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) workshop to people who want to become part of the solution of suicide, at no cost. ASIST trains participants to recognize the symptoms of suicidal ideation and trains them how to intervene. Last year, VVS has conducted three workshops and has now trained over 130 people to intervene in suicide.

VVS never charges heroes or their families for service. They accept insurance and use grants to cover what insurance does not.
