Mission Statement
AWSOM provides shelter and medical care for companion animals where they are free from abuse, hunger, fear and loneliness, until placing them in responsible forever homes.
The Animal Welfare Society of Monroe (AWSOM) has been saving pets since 2009. Their no-kill shelter in Stroudsburg is a refuge for dogs and cats. They care for each animal on a case-by-case basis and help match them with a loving home.
In addition to the shelter, AWSOM also operates a Wellness Center that provides quality, affordable veterinary care for the community. Appointments are required.
AWSOM seeks to end pet overpopulation and the cycle of abuse, abandonment and neglect. They educate the public and promote spay and neuter programs throughout the county.
