Experienced Web Content Writer
DiscoverNEPA is seeking a highly-motivated writing professional with three to five years of experience to join our Creative Team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Produce well-researched content for online publication
- Follow an editorial calendar to ensure timely completion of assignments
- Collaborate and propose ideas for themes, projects, stories, and contests
- Work closely with the Creative Team in developing long-term and day-to-day content strategy to drive traffic to the website and social media channels
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to inform decisions
- Use search engine optimization (SEO) strategies in writing to maximize search results
- Write and format e-newsletters
- Cover and report on special events
- Perform website maintenance tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- Proven record of excellent writing demonstrated in a professional portfolio
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small but dedicated team and make decisions collaboratively
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Possess a talent for storytelling and promoting a wide range of amenities and events in Northeastern Pennsylvania
- Must be a self-starter with a commitment to excellence
- Ability to work with a sense of urgency and purpose
- Possess a high level of creativity, attention to detail, and strong time management skills
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field with proven writing skills
- A minimum of three years professional writing experience, web content writing preferred
- Excellent communication skills and receptive to feedback
- Strong understanding of SEO best practices
- Experience using WordPress or Drupal
