Virtual Underground Microphone
February 9 @ 7:00 PM
Virtual Event
Underground Microphone is a unique “listening room” experience in an intimate setting which offers an up close and personal interaction with featured artists and performers. It’s the perfect opportunity to test out new material, hone your craft and enjoy “performance as an art form” rather than just entertainment. It’s a great vibe for both the artists and the audience. They take pride in working with diverse groups and individuals so that each week brings something new and different.
For anyone interested in performing: there are no rules. They encourage free form prose, poetry, stand up, improv and original music. There is no better place to debut new material or projects. A modest stipend is provided to performers.
They will continue where they left off in June, presenting as a virtual live stream from the Raymond Hood Room located in the Lower Level. Therefore, they are limited to one act at a time for a one hour set to begin at 7:00 PM. Solo acts/performers, duos and full bands or groups with a maximum of four members (plugged or unplugged) are welcome. Please note: You must adhere to social distancing guidelines and masks are required if not singing. They sanitize the work area and equipment before and after each session. Everyone must use their own microphone – no sharing allowed. Although they have three mics available, it is recommended that you bring your own whenever possible. Once restrictions are lifted, and they know it’s safe, they’ll reopen the doors to their live audience. So, for now, UGM will remain a virtual live stream played for an online audience only.
