Saint Ubaldo Day – Running of the Saints
Jessup, PA

Saint Ubaldo Day, called “Running of the Saints,” is a two-mile race honoring the life of Bishop Ubaldo Baldassini, who was canonized Protector of Gubbio. It is a religious holiday celebrated in only two places in the world: Gubbio, Italy, and right here in Jessup, PA. Italian immigrants brought this tradition, “La Corsa dei Ceri,” or running of the saints, to Jessup in the early 1900s, and it’s been a tradition for the community ever since. This friendly competition brings together families and friends to celebrate the community’s widespread Italian heritage with festive parties and good food. There is even a scaled down, kid’s version of the race that takes place before the main event. The festival takes place on the last Saturday in May.
