In 1960 the Weatherly Rotary Club decided to host the Weatherly Hillclimb in October for more than the beautiful fall colors on the tree along the Buck Mountain Road. They decided to host the SCCA sanctioned event as a fundraiser for the International Rotary Exchange Student Program.
At the time the Weatherly Hillclimb was known as “The Impossible Minute Mile”. From the starting line and thru the six total curves to reach the finish line it was impossible to do it in less than one minute. Each curve had its own personality and it was a special skill for the drivers to negotiate each turn and make it to the finish line.
The sounds of tires squealing, the smell of race car fuel, campers, tents, car trailers, campfires, crowds of people, and yes, these are the sights and sounds you will experience in the pit area held twice a year!
