Friday Nights Are All About Pizza, Pierogies & Fish Fries
Easter ham and chocolate bunnies get all the glory, but some of the best foods of the season come from the neighborhood fire hall. We’re talking Lenten specials, and NEPA’s volunteer fire companies are the experts. Every Friday, they turn out hundreds of trays of pizza and fire up the deep fryers for classic seafood dinners. Locals will gladly wait in line to get their hands on homemade haluski and pierogies. And just the sound of crackling oil is enough to bring back memories of crisp potato pancakes (or “bleenies,” as they call them in the Coal Region).
Fundraising has been tough this year, yet local firefighters are still serving on the frontlines and saving lives every day. Help out our hometown heroes by supporting local fish fries, pizza sales and more. We’ve rounded up some volunteer fire companies that are dishing up Lenten dinners. Check out their Facebook pages for the dates and ordering information.
This is certainly not a complete list. We’re happy to help spread the word for volunteer fire companies throughout NEPA. If you’d like to be added to the list, please contact us via Facebook, Instagram or email.
