An Out-Of-The-Ordinary Camping Experience

Rustic island camping with all the spoils of a hotel suite.

The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort is a picturesque resort nestled in the Pocono Mountains along the Delaware River. The resort boasts a relaxing spa, championship golf, a brewery, and plenty of outdoor activities. And while the hotel rooms, cottages, and suites offer a peaceful, lavish place to rest your head at night, those aren’t the only types of accommodation they offer. Guests looking to combine luxury and adventure can book a night or two of the Shawnee Glamping experience.

Simply put, glamping is glamorous camping. You get to keep all the fun of traditional camping—the s’mores, fresh air, and late nights around a campfire—but with the comfort of a four-star hotel room inside your tent. Shawnee Island Glamping is a glamp-site in the middle of the Delaware River, and is accessible only by canoe.

Relax in the serenity of nature while bell service tends the fire, cooks for you, and makes sure you’re comfortable. The site includes cozy beds, high speed-Wi-fi, electricity, men’s and women’s restrooms with showers, hammocks, and a giant campfire. Plus, guests can still access hotel amenities like the fitness center, indoor pool, and Jacuzzi.

If you’re seeking a glamping experience that’s a bit closer to shore, the Inn also has the Riverside Glamping option. The glamp-site overlooks the scenic Delaware River on the semi-secluded North Lawn of the Shawnee Inn. It offers the same luxurious retreat, but doesn’t require any canoeing and puts you within walking distance of the hotel’s services and amenities.

Both glamp-sites are open seasonally from May through October, so be sure to check their website for availability.
