Wildly Popular Scranton Spot Dishes Out Classic Caribbean Cuisine in Convenient Downtown Expansion
Since opening their initial location on South Main Ave. in 2019, Wanda’s Mofongo House quickly became one of the Electric City’s most popular stops for Spanish and international fare. And, while the family-owned shop enjoyed that initial jolt of local excitement, soon, the reality of meeting such an immense demand eventually set in. In a matter of just one year, it was time to open a second location.
Today, they cut the ribbon at Wanda’s Mofongo House II at 111 Wyoming Ave. The ultra-convenient downtown locale brings authentic, Caribbean favorites, like Mofongo and Patacon just a little bit closer to the restaurant’s North and South Scranton neighbors.
Wanda’s offers options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Start the day with a traditional dish of mangu and eggs. Stop in on your lunch break for generously stuffed tostones, quesadillas or sandwiches. And, if you’re eager to ditch the dirty dishes for the night, bring home some of Wanda’s signature Mofongo. The menu also features steak and seafood entrees, a kid’s menu and so much more.
We stopped by Wanda’s Wyoming Ave. location this afternoon for their grand opening. Wanda and her super friendly team treated us to a delicious lunch of Mofongo with Shrimp and White Sauce and an unforgettable slice of homemade Tres Leches Cake. Fortunately for you, we also brought our camera along. Check it out.
