Luzerne County Kicks Off Mobile Summer Concert Series with Rockin’ Ride Through Hazleton
This past Friday, we made our way to Hazleton to catch the first show in the Rockin’ the County concert series. The ever-entertaining Indigo Moon Brass Band took to the stage/flatbed truck as it rolled through several downtown neighborhoods. Yeah. You read that correctly. The entire concert took place on a flatbed truck as it thundered “parade-style” through town.
The Wilkes-Barre-based band brought their signature New Orleans-style, brass-infused funk to the party. Residents popped their heads out of windows and took to the sidewalks to catch a glimpse of the one-of-a-kind concert. Many families enjoyed the festivities from the comfort of their porches. The rolling rock show covered roughly 3 miles from Center City to the Hollywood neighborhood and back.
Visit Luzerne County and the Luzerne County Government teamed up to create the unique series. You can catch similar, mobile concerts every Friday throughout July and into August. Plan ahead by checking out the full concert schedule along with each route here.
We just couldn’t miss it. We loaded up the Jeep and tagged along as best as we could. Take a look.
