2nd Annual Festival Offers a Whole Weekend of Family Fun
The Halloween spirit was in the air this weekend at the Hazle Township Community Park. The Miss Greater Hazleton Scholarship Organization hosted their 2nd Annual Fall Festival & Trail of Treats on October 23 and 24. Hundreds of families came out to enjoy the afternoon (and get a sweet haul of Halloween candy). We stopped by on Sunday to see all the cute costumes, snap some photos and hand out treats to the kids.
Over 30 vendors filled the park, and food trucks served up everyone’s favorite fair foods. The kids showed off their costumes in a contest, and the DJ kept the party going with fun music. There was also pumpkin decorating, fall-themed crafts and a petting zoo.
Finally, it was time for the highly anticipated Trail of Treats. This scavenger hunt led kids and their families through the park, searching for a list of hidden items. Along the way, they filled their bags with candy and prizes from the local vendors. The event started last year as a safe, socially distant way to celebrate Halloween. It was such a success that they held it again for 2021.
The Miss Greater Hazleton Scholarship Organization also held a food drive to collect items for the upcoming holiday season. Families brought in canned foods and nonperishables to benefit the local food bank. Overall, it was a great way to earn some treats and give to those in need.
