Bidding Begins on November 6
The Artists for Art (AFA) Gallery in Scranton has created a safe way to support the arts from home. This year, they’re hosting a virtual auction featuring over 40 pieces of artwork. The auction will also include creative “experiences,” such as a silent disco party.
The online event is a socially distant alternative to AFA’s annual Holiday Auction, which has been a tradition since the 1980s. The auction is normally their largest fundraiser of the year.
Bidding will begin on November 6 and close on November 20. You can view the items and place your bids online.
The AFA Gallery has been celebrating the visual arts for over 30 years. As a nonprofit, they support regional artists and hosts exhibits with local paintings, sculptures, photography and more. They also provide a wide range of cultural programs and community events.
This year has been full of exciting changes for the AFA Gallery. In August, they moved into a new location at 101 Penn Avenue. The auction will help as they continue to expand their programs and provide an outlet for local artwork.
We stopped by the new gallery to admire some of the artwork that’s up for sale. Check out our photos for a sneak peek.
