Picture This: AFA Gallery Hosts 2021 Virtual Auction

Posted: November 4, 2021
Bidding Begins on November 4
The Artists for Art (AFA) Gallery in Scranton is once again holding a virtual auction featuring about 30 pieces of original artwork. The auction will also include “experiences,” like a personalized theatrical play and season ski passes to Montage Mountain.
Bidding opens on November 4 at 6 p.m. and continues through November 20 on AFA Gallery’s website. On opening night, they will also host a virtual, live-streamed event through their social media and website.
The online event is a socially distant alternative to the gallery’s annual holiday auction, which has been a tradition since the 1980s. The auction is normally their biggest fundraiser of the year.
For over 30 years, AFA Gallery has celebrated the visual arts, supported regional artists and hosted exhibits featuring local paintings, sculptures, photography and more. Even through the pandemic, they’ve continued to keep the arts alive and thriving in Scranton. Since the onset of COVID, they have hosted over 150 artists and cultural groups.
We stopped by the gallery to see some of the items that are up for sale. Check out our photos for an early look. You can also visit the gallery at 101 Penn Avenue to see the items in person. They will be on display during normal gallery hours and during the November First Friday art walk.
