Revisiting NEPA's Autumn Season
The fall season in NEPA is truly a one of a kind experience. According to the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) Pennsylvania has the longest lasting and most vibrant foliage display than any other place in the world! Which means we had plenty of opportunities to capture NEPA at its best. Here’s a quick look back at some of our favorite stops over the last few months.
Every year the Bloomsburg Fair marks the unofficial start of autumn. It’s during this time that the summer temperatures begin to fade and the air surrounding the fairgrounds becomes infused with the scent of seasonally baked goods. The fair has been a staple in the community for over 100 years. And to this day, it serves as the perfect transition into the fall season.
Lakeland’s Apple Harvest Fest is another welcomed event that pulls us even further into the fall spirit. Apple pies, apple slushies, and apple cider doughnuts begin making their way into almost everyone’s diet and the joy of picking your own apples is shared by people of all ages.
Fall is also a special time for wildlife. The seasonal bird migration is now in full swing and the vibrant autumn colors make for the perfect backdrop for snapping photos. Even our encounters with an eagle and a black bear were enhanced by the splendor of fall colors. There’s no doubt that these were some of our favorite images taken this year.
And of course we can’t forget to talk about all of the new, spooky events that popped up this year. Jive’s Halloween pop-up bar in Milford, West Pittston’s Halloween Town and Roba’s Glowing Pumpkin Trail were some of our favorite additions. In our eyes, these events have officially raised the bar on how the people of NEPA will enjoy this season from here on out.
We hope you’ve enjoyed the ride as much as we have. And be sure to check back with us as we begin to explore all that the NEPA winter season has in store for us this year!
