New Wrestling TV Series Filmed in Wilkes-Barre

The Masked Wrestler Will Air in October 2020

Some of today’s top independent pro wrestlers made their way to Wilkes-Barre on Thursday for the filming of The Masked Wrestler. This original TV series is a collaboration between Independent Wrestling TV (IWTV) and Coal Creative.

The series follows a similar premise as the hit show The Masked Singer. The show disguises the identities of eight independent professional wrestlers and pitches them head-to-head in a single-elimination tournament. The losers must take off their masks and reveal their identities, while the winners move forward to the next round. The overall champ will earn a spot as “The Mystery Opponent” at the upcoming Independent Wrestling Championship.

The Masked Wrestler will also have three celebrity judges: Kris Statlander of All Elite Wrestling, pro wrestler Billy Dixon and Ricky “Romance” Perillo (known in the ring as Mr. Brickster) of VH1’s I Love New York.

Gerard Durling is the show’s director/producer, president of IWTV and founder of Coal Creative. Durling noted that he created the show in response to COVID-19 as a way to make the most out of the current mask mandates.

The Masked Wrestler will air in October 2020 on IWTV, a subscription on-demand network with over 7,000 hours of content. IWTV is available through Google Play, the App Store, Amazon Fire TV and Roku.
