Summer’s on its Way Out, But Ice Cream is Here to Stay

Chilly autumn nights won’t stop ice cream lovers from getting their scoops in. Luckily, NEPA creameries always rise to the occasion. Over the next few weeks, stop by local parlors and roadside stands for seasonal flavors, like cinnamon, apple pie and pumpkin, along with special sundaes to get you in that fall mood.

When fall rolls around, our local orchards are hard at work picking apples, pressing cider and baking their famous apple cider donuts. They’re fried to golden perfection, rolled in crispy cinnamon sugar and bursting with fresh apple flavor. Drive out to NEPA’s apple country and pick up a dozen. Or two. For real. It’s easy to go through, like, six of these things in one sitting.

Love it or hate it, pumpkin spice season is upon us in full force. NEPA’s local coffee shops are brewing PSLs that are beyond “basic.” Handcrafted drinks, locally roasted beans and a warm blend of spices make these drinks cozier than a flannel on a crisp fall day. And don’t forget about other seasonal drinks like toasty chai, steaming apple ciders and rich hot cocoa.

Don’t go raiding the kids’ plastic pumpkin buckets just yet. NEPA’s candy shops are whipping up decadent chocolates and Halloween treats that will satisfy your sweet tooth. Pick up some pumpkin fudge, gourmet candy apples, chocolate-dipped treats and fall-themed candies.
