NEPA brings you jazz festivals, luaus, and hot air balloon rides… all in the same action-packed weekend.
You name it, this weekend has probably got the event for you. Get lost among the flower fields at Sunflower Festival at Lakeland Orchard & Cidery. And the little ones will be in awe as they watch the annual butterfly migration at the Butterfly Release Event at Creekside Gardens. (Bonus points if you show up wearing a set of wings).
You’ll have plenty of chances to celebrate the arts. Head to the Delaware Water Gap for incredible local jazz music at COTA Jazz & Arts Festival. If movies are more your thing, wander through the streets of downtown Honesdale for the Canaltown Moving Movie Festival. Different venues transform into pop-up movie theaters for the night.
Hit the streets in Hazleton for Hazleton Funfest, a weekend-long street fair with an island luau theme, featuring a giant balloon parade, music, vendors, and more. 3rd Annual Welcoming Scranton is all about embracing different cultures and coming together as a community, with kids’ games, language classes, dancing, and yoga. And keep the party going at the 250th Founder’s Day Celebration of Wilkes-Barre with hot air balloon rides and fireworks. For live music, rides, and deep-fried goodness, take the family to the Luzerne County Fair.
The weekend is never too busy to have fun for a good cause. Promote literacy by participating in the Book It Through Pittston 5k Race and Family Fun Walk. And bring the whole family, including your pooch, to Woofstock, a pet-friendly festival with food, music, and vendors. Proceeds benefit True Friends Animal Welfare Center.
