The Countdown to the Holidays Begins with Train Rides, Marketplaces and Light Shows Galore
November might be coming to an end, but the holiday season is just beginning. NEPA has plenty of festive events lined up this weekend to get the seasonal celebrations rolling. Hop on one of the Stourbridge Line’s cozy trains for the Santa Christmas Tree Express. Take a stroll through a winter wonderland at Bloomsburg’s Winterfest. Then swing by the Mohegan Sun Arena as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins take on the Providence Bruins.
Secure your spot on the nice list on an Elf on the Shelf Trolley Excursion at the Electric City Trolley Museum. Cheer on the chip champions at the 6th Annual Middleswarth Chip Eating Contest at Sabatini’s Bottleshop and Bar. And rock out at the Scranton Cultural Center for The Menzingers’ hometown performance (possibly the only thing more punk than a chip eating contest).
Holiday markets abound this time of year. Stop at Midtown Village in Downtown Wilkes-Barre, where the Holiday Pop Up Market will feature vendors and pictures with Santa. Then hit up the Buy Local Holiday Marketplace at the Scranton Cultural Center in support of small businesses. Chill out after all that shopping with EagleMania at Mauch Chunk Opera House.
