Celebrate the First Weekend of Fall with Festivals, Dinosaurs and Drive-In Concerts
Hop on the Stourbridge Line in Hawley for the Lackawaxen Foliage Express on Friday and get a sneak peek at those first changing leaves of the season. Of course, it’s just not autumn without a few fall festivals. Head to the Gilbert Fairgrounds all weekend for their popular West End Fall Fest. Bring the kids out to Roba Family Farms on Saturday and Sunday for their famous Johnny Appleseed Days. And, sip your way through the Pisano Family Wines 1st Annual Craft Fair on Sunday at the Hunlock Creek Winery.
There’s something strange going on at the Schuylkill County Fairgrounds. Grab your safari hats and check out the Jurassic Wonder Dinosaur Drive Thru on Saturday and Sunday.
Take the stage at Wilkes-Barre’s KISS Theatre on Friday and realize your showbiz dreams at their always entertaining Open Mic Nite. Pack up the car for a pair of unforgettable Saturday night Drive-In events. SNL alum Jim Breuer takes the stage live at the Circle Drive-In for an evening of gut-busting comedy. And, don’t miss an exclusive country music event at the iconic Garden Drive-In. Superstar Kane Brown dazzles with his latest hits in a live-recorded, one-night-only concert event.
Early fall in NEPA is also host to a few friendly competitive events. Lace up for an 8-miler, a half or full marathon on Saturday and Sunday at the Jim Thorpe Area Running Festival. Then, on Sunday, toss your way to victory at the Back Mountain Chamber’s annual Cornhole Tournament in Dallas.

Embark on a scenic fall foliage excursion from Hawley to Lackawaxen on the famous Stourbridge Line. The 2-hour trip follows the stunning Lackawaxen River as it flows east toward the Delaware River.
The West End Fall Fest
September 25 at 4 p.m. & September 26 & 27 at 2 p.m.
Celebrate the season at the Fairgrounds in Gilbert. This all-things-autumn event features lots of live music, crafts, vendors, hay rides, pumpkin painting for the kids, antique tractors and so much more.
Outdoor Open Mic Nite
September 25 at 7 p.m.
Join the KISS Theatre Company in Wilkes-Barre for this open mic musical extravaganza. The event is open to anyone with a desire to perform. Participants are encouraged to perform songs, scenes, or monologues from their “Dream Roles.”
Jim Thorpe Area Running Festival
September 26 & 27 at 8 a.m.
Lace up those running shoes for a great cause in Jim Thorpe. This runner’s festival features a half marathon and a popular 8-miler. There will also be a point-to-point Boston qualifier Scenic Railway Full Marathon.
Jurassic Wonder Dinosaur Drive Thru
September 26 & 27 at 9 a.m.
Load up the car and head out to the Schuylkill County Fairgrounds for this one-of-a-kind, drive-thru event featuring all your favorite, life-sized reptiles. Look out for animatronic raptors, T-Rex and triceratops to name just a few.
Encore Drive-In Nights Featuring Kane Brown
September 26 at 7:30 p.m.
Get to Hunlock Creek’s Garden Drive-In for this exclusive, one-night-only concert event. Country superstar Kane Brown takes the stage in a never-before-seen live recording. Tickets are purchased per vehicle carrying no more than 6 passengers.

Stop by this family winery in Hunlock Creek for a full day of sipping on tasty wines from NEPA and beyond. The fair also features food and other beverages for purchase and 37 unique craft vendors.
Back Mountain Chamber Cornhole Tournament

Grab your partner and get to the Irem Pavilion in Dallas for the Back Mountain Chamber’s annual Cornhole Tournament. The double elimination tournament also features prizes, food, beer and wine and raffles.
