NEPA Weekend Round-Up 08.31.18

The long weekend means you get extra time to soak up the end-of-summer fun!

Celebrate Labor Day Weekend with these awesome festivals!

Downtown Scranton is hosting two can’t-miss events this weekend. The 43rd Annual La Festa Italiana runs from Friday through Monday at Courthouse Square. Start saving up your appetite now because this festival is famous for its authentic Italian food. On Saturday and Sunday, Steamtown National Historic Site will offer train rides and exhibits at the annual Railfest. They’ll have shuttles between La Festa and Railfest so you can get a double dose of summer fun.

Save some room after La Festa and check out NEPA’s food festivals! The Pocono Garlic Festival runs on Saturday and Sunday at Shawnee Mountain Ski Area. Indulge in your favorite fair foods marinated in local garlic. On Sunday, head to Mohegan Sun Pocono for the Food Truck Festival. If the “wine and dine” scene is more your style, check out the Schuylkill County Wine Festival on Sunday.

Enjoy the long weekend in the scenic Endless Mountains. Nothing says summer like cotton candy and carousels, so take the family to the Wyoming County Community Fair. Jam out to bluegrass tunes at the Cornstock Folk Festival at Lazybrook Park on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Last Chance

Be sure to get out and see the RailRiders in their last home game on Saturday. And, don’t forget, you only have a few nights left to enjoy that silky smooth soft serve from Curly Creme in Wilkes-Barre. They will be closing for the season on Wednesday, September 5. I heard a rumor that Peanut Butter is the final flavor of the week.

Mark your calendars for:
