It’s race weekend, and the summer fun is in high gear!
Sports fans will have a busy weekend! Gear up for some high-speed fun because Pocono Raceway is hosting the Gander Outdoors 400 on Sunday. The engines will be roaring as NASCAR drivers take on the Tricky Triangle. On Saturday, take the family to Sandlot Night at PNC Field. The RailRiders will celebrate the beloved movie with giveaways and special activities.
Helping a good cause can be tons of fun! Lace up your sneakers and race through Wilkes-Barre at the 5K for the United Way on Saturday. Proceeds will help end childhood poverty in the Wyoming Valley. Animal lovers can join Indraloka Animal Sanctuary for their Nurture and Nourish Pig Pampering event on Saturday. You’ll get to meet the animals, help out on the farm, and take a tour of the grounds.
If you need to relax and de-stress, we have you covered. Head to Wilkes-Barre’s River Common for the free Riverfront Yoga class on Saturday morning. On Saturday and Sunday, treat yourself to some local wine at the Mountain Wine Festival at Penn’s Peak.
Mark your calendars for:
Sandlot Night with the RailRiders
The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders are celebrating the 25th anniversary of The Sandlot on Saturday. Patrick “You’re killin’ me, Smalls!” Renna will make a guest appearance. They’ll also have a hotdog eating contest, s’mores, and a bobblehead giveaway. The first pitch goes out at 6:35 p.m.
5K for the United Way

Nurture and Nourish Pig Pampering
The pigs at Indraloka Animal Sanctuary in Mehoopany need a little love! Head to their Nurture and Nourish Pig Pampering event on Saturday at 11 a.m. You’ll help feed and care for the pigs (and maybe scratch a few bellies while you’re at it). The event also includes a farm tour and lunch.
