Kick Off May with Block Parties, Food and Wine Festivals, Train Rides and More!

Get your weekend started right with a trip to Hazleton for the Mountain City’s popular First Friday celebration. On Saturday, stop by Montage Mountain Resorts in Scranton for the annual Spring Wine Festival. Then, head to the Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre to catch the Penguins in their final home game of the season.

Scranton has a full weekend of awesome downtown events planned. Swing by the Chamber Community Block Party for live music, shopping, food and so much more. And, don’t forget to check out the Observe Scranton Festival for book signings, story slams and more celebrating the legacy of Jane Jacobs. Round up the kids on Saturday morning and stop by The Ritz Theater for singing, dancing and more during their famous Fairy Tale Brunch.

Treat yourself to a taste of the Mediterranean at the Wilkes-Barre Mini Greek Food Festival on Friday. On Saturday, get ready to shake, rattle and roll at G.A.R. Memorial High School in Wilkes-Barre as the Wolfpack Players present All Shook Up! Then, make your way to the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway in Jim Thorpe for an unforgettable scenic train ride through Lehigh Gorge State Park.

Make room for adorable animals of all shapes and sizes on Saturday morning during opening day festivities at Safari Farm Petting Zoo in Lake Ariel.
